Dental Root Canals

Your Teeth May Not be Hopeless

In the past, if a tooth's roots were damaged or infected, the prescribed treatment was extraction. Today, it is understood that it is better to keep a tooth intact, as a missing tooth can cause other problems that should be avoided. Root canal therapy can save a tooth, and our dentists are well-experienced in this treatment.

During this procedure, the pulp from the interior chamber of a tooth is removed and replaced with a special material. A crown may be placed over this tooth to give it added strength.

When dentists first began performing root canals, they were quite painful. As a result, root canals have acquired the reputation of a procedure to avoid. However, with advancements in technology and developments in anesthetics, today they are often painless.
