Dental Crowns

Crowns in a Single Visit

If you have ever had a crown placed over a tooth, you are familiar with the routine. After tooth preparation, impression taking, and the installation of a temporary crown, it is a two-week wait until the dentist can insert the permanent crown. If it doesn't fit as it should, again there is a wait as the crown goes back to the lab. And again, there is another visit to the dentist.
The good news is all that has changed! Our doctors can now produce a perfectly fitting permanent crown in just one visit! What used to take two or three visits is now easy and time-saving in a single appointment.

CEREC™ is a computer-aided technology that designs and mills a durable crown in just minutes! The software application is an efficient process that creates a perfect crown in minutes. There are no more return trips for fitting and getting your crown just right. No more waiting time for the lab to produce the restoration. Patients are very pleased with this advancement, and you will be too!

The total time from start to finish to repair your damaged tooth is about an hour. Impressions are no longer necessary, and temporaries have been eliminated. With CEREC, we quickly and efficiently create a long-lasting restoration that looks natural and functions as needed.

The process begins by painting a reflective powder on the tooth. With a specially designed camera, an accurate image is taken and then viewed on our computer screen. Our dentist then designs the restoration and CEREC automatically creates the crown with a perfect fit. The crown is then bonded to the remaining tooth structure and the whole procedure is completed.

What could possibly be easier, faster, or less complicated?

The Benefits of Good Oral Hygiene

The Cost Of Dental Treatments
If you develop complications from tooth decay and gum disease, you may be dealing with bills for anything from fillings or crowns to more costly and complicated procedures such as root canals or oral surgery to extract damaged teeth and place dental implants.

The Costs Vary
The costs of dental treatments vary. For example, the cost of a root canal will depend on the location of the tooth and how many canals are in the tooth that needs the root canal treatment.

The Cost of Oral Hygiene
By comparison, the cost of basic oral hygiene and preventive teeth cleaning is low. A toothbrush should be replaced every three months or when it appears worn, but that’s just a few dollars. The same goes for dental floss, whether you prefer specialized floss, such as Oral-B’s Ultra Floss, or standard floss.

Points To Remember
Also, don’t forget that most dental plans cover at least one, and sometimes two, checkups and cleanings per year at little or no cost to you. It’s better to make and keep those appointments, even if you don’t think you have problems with your teeth or oral hygiene, in order to identify and manage potential problems before costly care is required. Remember that your dentist is your partner in oral health, and be sure to keep him or her informed about medications you take and changes in your overall health so your oral hygiene can be tailored accordingly to maximize your health benefits. Some types of medications (including anti-depressants and some heart medications) increase your risk for gingivitis, so be sure to let your dentist know if you start taking any new medication, even if you don’t think it will affect your oral health.

Implant Retainted Dentures

Secure Dentures Permanently

Besides the traditional implants, we are pleased to have another option with All-on-4™ immediate load implants. They work as the name suggests. With only four implants, you can have your dentures permanently and securely held in place without ever having to remove them. In just one office visit, you can have missing or unhealthy teeth replaced with natural-looking, fully functioning teeth. And in the same day, you may eat whatever you like, as immediate load implants hold up to any pressure from chewing. There is no waiting time for healing the bone around it.

In times past, if a patient lost teeth because of trauma, disease, or extraction, replacement with implants was performed by an oral surgeon. After the surgeon placed the titanium posts, the patient went back to the dentist and had crowns placed over them. Our dentists can perform the whole procedure, from placing the immediate load implants to positioning the natural-looking teeth in just one visit. No longer does a patient have a six-month waiting time for the bone to heal.

Great Ways to Improve Your Smile # 6

Implants
Dental implants are a popular and effective way to replace missing teeth. Surgically placed in the upper or lower jaw, they function as a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth. Made of titanium and other materials, implants are designed to hold restorations like crowns or bridges blend in with your other teeth, and are a long-term option for restoring your smile.

Great Ways to Improve Your Smile # 5

Braces
While orthodontic work that begins while a child is growing helps produce optimal results, that doesn’t mean that adults can’t have braces. Thanks to advances in orthodontic treatments, metal brackets are not your only option. Removable aligners, or invisible braces,î or clear plastic brackets can all be used to straighten crooked or crowded teeth.
